Description
Pokedex Entry: This formerly extinct species uses its frill to surprise attackers. It is also capable of spitting a toxic and paralytic liquid over surprising distances.
Poison/Electric Type
Creator Note: Here is another one of the fossil Pokemon I'm making for my game Manifest Destiny. Klamydosaur will be like Aerodactyl was, or not having any evolutions.
I was originally designing this based on the dinosaur Dilophosaurus, or the dinosaur in the first Jurassic Park that you are probably thinking of right now looking at this sprite. Unfortunately, when I actually went to go look up the exact specs on the dinosaur, I found that the Jurassic Park movie AND book had taken some "creative liberties" with the species, and as such the real fossil records for the dinosaur actually showed no evidence for spitting or the neck frill.
So I went and looked up the frill-necked lizard, which is where I got the name Klamydosaur, which comes from the Latin name for the lizard Chlamydosaurus kingii.
Sprites Used:
The head comes from Totodile, and the eye comes from Feraligatr.
The neck frill comes from the petals around the neck for Meganium.
The arms come from Krookodile.
The body and legs come from Sceptile.
The tail comes from Nidoking.
